Pozniaks Lodge
Pozniak’s is one of the oldest hunting and fishing resorts in Northern Ontario. Hewn out of the forest by Bill Pozniak, who came to Marten River in the early 1900’s to trap, fish and hunt. The lodge and cabins Bill constructed from cedar and spruce logs still stand today, a testament to his engineering abilities, although he could neither read nor write. The clientele back then were strictly fishermen and hunters, so the accommodation was quite rustic, but as time passed, the men began to bring their wives and families, so electricity, running water and inside washrooms were installed. Pozniak’s while retaining as much of its original atmosphere as possible has modernized the cabins, to make it the perfect vacation spot for the whole family. |
